Laser Hair Removal Contracts and the Easy Credit Trap

Laser Hair Removal Contracts and the Easy Credit Trap

In Pittsburgh, easy credit and financing is part of the lure when laser hair removal is done in non medical business offices where no doctor has ever stepped foot.

These offices are not directly supervised by a physician on site and they often hire nurses with absolutely no laser experience to give the place an aura of a medical atmosphere. One franchise used these words on the internet when advertising to hire nurses to practice laser surgery by stating, “No Experience Necessary. We will provide training”. Is that person with no experience someone you would want using a laser on you?

A disgruntled former employee wrote on the following site  http://www.indeed.com/cmp/American-Laser-Center/reviews  …  “The only thing that management cared about was getting the sale.”  With the nationally franchised chains, credit cards or financing are available and pushed along with their hard sell making it more enticing to some. The excessive interest charged may not be included in the contract making it seem deceptively affordable. Some people have been tricked into signing a credit plan and have later written on the internet stating that they were not told that the credit plan was part of the package deal.

Free touch ups and “guarantees” are also manipulated at these other laser centers. With their package plans, some of the treatments are defined as “touch ups” but are not completely covered in their package plan. These deceptive hair removal franchise’s guarantees of free touch ups are the result of manipulating the interval between treatments longer than what is recommended. Therefore it takes longer to complete the 8 or 9 treatments in the package plan that most people purchase and the remaining time that is guaranteed is thereby shortened for those “free touchups”.

We pride ourselves in performing laser surgery in a physician’s office with extensive medical experience using laser technology. Not just for hair removal but we also have the longest history of experience in utilizing laser for vein procedures. Dr. Happel was the first doctor to perform laser varicose vein surgery in Pittsburgh.

Please don’t forget, bad results (burns) can possibly happen with laser treatments.  Just do a search on the internet for “Laser Hair Removal Gone Wrong” but just be warned some of the photographs are graphic and the burns that resulted from inexperienced laser personnel are frightening. Those tragic photographs on those sites could be yours if you put your trust in inexperienced hands.

Sites like www.pissedoffconsumer.com and www.ripoffreport.com detail some of these types of laser offices. Be an informed consumer. Once you sign on the dotted line for an expensive package for laser hair removal on the day of your consultation, you are truly stuck and there’s no legal wiggle room to change your mind after you’ve had a chance to think about it when you leave that office.
